U Aung Naing Oo

Aung Naing Oo (Mr.) is the Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations.

He took a military service from 1981 to 2000. After that he was appointed as a Deputy Geneal Manager of the Myanma Agricultural Produce Trading under the Ministry of Commerce from 2000 to 2005. Then, he was promoted as a General Manger at the Export Department of the same Trading in 2005. In 2006, he was transferred to the Minister’s Office of the Ministry of Commerce as a Principal Officer (Deputy Director General) and in 2010, he served as a Deputy Director General of the Department of Border Trade under the same Ministry.

Afterward, he had taken as a Deputy Director General Position of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) under the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development in May 2011. One year later, he has been promoted to the current position, Director General of the DICA. He has also been appointed as the Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) since 28th May 2014. He attended trainings in various institutions including WTO and participated in many international seminars and meetings related to investment, trade and ASEAN affairs. He led the reforms for the improvement of business environment in Myanmar and played a key role in drafting Myanmar Investment Law, Myanmar Companies Law, Special Economic Zone Law and formulating Private Sector Development Framework and Action Plans. Under his leadership, an online company registry, which is Myanmar’s first ever e-Government programme namely Myanmar Companies Online (MyCO) was successfully established and operationalized.

He was the Senior Economic Official of Myanmar to ASEAN and was also the Co-chair of OECD Task-force on updating Policy Framework for Investment.

He is married and has two daughters.
